Variety reports that Stephen Root acknowledged GTA 6 participation in an AP interview and identifies Brian Heder as his character. Those are two distinct claims. Rockstar's checked character profiles do not supply a complete performer cast, and Jason and Lucia's performers remain unconfirmed here.
Characters are official. Credits need their own source.
| Character / claim | Performer evidence | Rockstar credit established? |
|---|---|---|
| GTA 6 participation | Stephen Root acknowledgement, reported by Variety from AP | No publisher credit established by this check |
| Brian Heder | Stephen Root: Variety's character attribution, separate from participation statement | Not established |
| Jason Duval | Performer unconfirmed in checked official profiles | Not established |
| Lucia Caminos | Performer unconfirmed in checked official profiles | Not established |
Variety reports AP; the AP original returned an access restriction during this check. Participation, character attribution and a Rockstar credit are not the same thing.
Read the Variety reportStephen Root: participation and character attribution are different claims
Variety's September 16 report describes Root acknowledging work on GTA 6 in an Associated Press interview. It separately associates him with Brian Heder. An acknowledgement of participation is useful evidence, but it is not interchangeable with an actor naming a character in a quotation or Rockstar publishing a cast credit.
For this update the AP page returned an access restriction, so we could not independently replay the original clip. The evidence chain is explicitly Variety reporting AP, not an invented direct viewing. The table below keeps the participation statement and character attribution separate so either can be upgraded when the original recording or final credits become available.
Jason and Lucia: character names are not actor announcements
Rockstar names Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos and publishes their biographies and images. Those records establish the fictional protagonists, not the identities of the people performing them. Neither facial resemblance nor a matching social-media follow proves a credit.
We do not turn popular fan suggestions into a cast list or repeat speculative names just because they attract searches. Until a suitable first-party credit or an attributable performer statement can be inspected, the performer field stays unconfirmed. That is a statement about available evidence, not a claim that the roles have no actors.
Voice acting, likeness and performance capture
A game character can involve voice performance, motion capture, facial capture, stunt work and likeness rights. One reported name does not automatically establish every part of that production pipeline. This guide uses performer as the broad term and adds a more specific role only when the underlying credit supports it.
Official images on this page depict characters. They are not photographs identifying performers, and their inclusion should not be read as evidence of a real person's likeness agreement. Brian's character dossier remains the owner for his fictional background and relationships.
How a cast entry earns a stronger label
The strongest update would be a Rockstar cast announcement or released-game credits. A directly accessible actor interview can establish the words that performer actually says, but still needs to be distinguished from a publisher announcement. An article quoting an interview is useful reported evidence and should link back through the chain.
When evidence changes, this canonical guide and the relevant character dossier will be updated together. We will retain the earlier attribution boundary rather than silently rewriting a report as though it had always been an official confirmation.
What this guide deliberately leaves out
No private-profile investigation, leaked production files, facial matching or uncredited fan casting is used to fill the gaps. Minor roles do not receive empty standalone pages. There is also no unsupported claim about the size of the cast, recording hours or actor compensation.
For music performers rather than character performers, use the soundtrack guide. For who a character is within Leonida, use the character index. Keeping these intents separate makes both the evidence and the eventual release-day credit update easier to follow.
What this confirms. What it does not.
These checks apply to the claims below, not a blanket re-verification of every historical interview on this page.

AP's original clip could not be replayed here. This is a transparent report of an interview, not our direct verification of the original recording.

Separate editorial character attribution from Root's participation statement. Rockstar's checked biography is a fictional-character profile, not a performer credit.

Questions worth separating.
Is Stephen Root officially confirmed by Rockstar?
The checked evidence is Variety reporting an AP interview and identifying Brian Heder. We have not established a Rockstar performer credit.
Who voices Jason and Lucia?
Their performers remain unconfirmed in the first-party character sources checked here. Fan identifications are not used as credits.
Is the official character cast a voice cast?
No. Rockstar's named fictional characters and a verified real-world performer list are different records.
