What the evidence establishes
Checked . A failed primary-source retrieval is shown explicitly, not relabeled as a fresh verification.
How to read the five evidence tiers
- OFFICIAL
- First-party publication
- DEVELOPER-REPORTED
- Attributed developer statement; source chain shown
- PREVIEW-REPORTED
- Invited-preview reporting, sometimes through a secondary account
- INDEPENDENT
- Security research or external reporting, not Rockstar confirmation
- UNCONFIRMED
- Evidence gate not passed; not a confirmed absence
PS5 Pro Enhanced
The checked PlayStation Store listing carries the PS5 Pro Enhanced label.
What this does not prove: The label does not specify a 60 FPS mode, resolution, upscaling method or exact ray-tracing configuration.
Reported build status versus launch modes
Flow Games relays a current 30 FPS build and Nelson's qualification about consulting the technical team.
What this does not prove: This is not an official final all-console frame-rate lock. Final 40/60 FPS options remain unannounced in the checked sources.
A label, a report and a benchmark are not equivalents
- 01First-party feature label
- 02Attributed build report
- 03Final mode announcement
- 04Released-build measurement
No benchmark was performed. Enhancement support and final frame-rate options remain separate fields.
| Hardware | Established evidence | Final FPS / modes |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 | Announced platform; official footage capture attribution | Not announced |
| PS5 Pro | Official Store: PS5 Pro Enhanced | Not announced; label is not 60 FPS |
| Xbox Series X | Announced console family | Not announced |
| Xbox Series S | Announced console family | Not announced; no parity inferred |
| PC | Release not announced | Requirements and benchmarks unknown |
Evidence ledger
Source authority and claim status are separate. UNKNOWN is not NO.
Capture platform
Rockstar labels the Extended Look as in-game footage captured on PlayStation 5.
What this does not prove: Capture attribution does not establish a retail mode, native rendering resolution or the frame-time consistency of every scene.
Checked 2026-09-08T06:24:34+08:00 · Update trigger: new attributable source or repeatable released-build evidence.Current 30 FPS report
Flow Games relays 30 FPS for the current console build and retains Nelson's qualification about checking with the technical team.
What this does not prove: The article's strong headline must not erase its current-build caveat or become an official final launch specification.
Checked 2026-09-08T06:24:34+08:00 · Update trigger: new attributable source or repeatable released-build evidence.Final launch modes
The checked official hub and support record do not publish a final 60 FPS, 40 FPS or per-console mode table.
What this does not prove: Unannounced modes are unknown, not a confirmed absence. PS5 Pro, Series X and Series S values cannot be filled by inference.
Checked 2026-09-08T06:24:34+08:00 · Update trigger: new attributable source or repeatable released-build evidence.A guaranteed launch lock
A claim that Rockstar has definitively locked every retail console to one final mode is not established by this evidence chain.
What this does not prove: Preview reporting, video playback properties and promotional stills are not substitutes for official launch specifications or released-build measurements.

Official PS5 capture answers one specific question
Rockstar's capture label tells us the stated origin of the footage. It does not tell us every setting used to render it, whether the eventual retail menu exposes multiple modes, or how every open-world scenario performs. Those are different technical questions.
A cinematic screenshot also cannot establish frame pacing. It is a still image, not a measured sequence of presentation times. We use official images for visual context while keeping the performance ledger separate, so presentation quality does not quietly become a numerical claim.
The Extended Look page owns the official presentation and its capture attribution. GTA 6 Extended Look →
Read the qualification, not just the 30 FPS headline
The Flow Games report is worth recording because it relays information from an invited visit. It also includes a qualification about the current state and further technical-team consultation. Removing that qualification would change the meaning of the evidence.
We therefore distinguish a reported current build from a published final specification. That does not dismiss the report. It gives readers the correct level of confidence and leaves room for a later source to establish, change or narrow the available modes.

PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X and Series S
A platform announcement and a performance mode are different data fields. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are announced platforms. A final mode table would need separate verified entries for the relevant hardware, rather than copying a single reported value into every row.
The status matrix below leaves final frame-rate, resolution and mode choices unknown where the evidence does not supply them. PS5 Pro is shown as a hardware-specific question within the PS5 family, with the official PlayStation Store now listing PS5 Pro Enhanced; that label does not specify a frame-rate mode. We do not infer parity between Series X and Series S.
The platform hub owns announced availability; this page owns frame-rate and graphics-mode evidence. GTA 6 Platforms →
60 FPS, 40 FPS and graphics tradeoffs
A desired mode is not an announced mode. Likewise, the absence of a published 60 FPS option does not prove that one cannot exist. The same standard applies to 40 FPS, variable-refresh behavior, ray tracing and resolution choices.
A technical analysis can be valuable when its method and footage are available. But a frame-counting result for a video is not automatically the final retail behavior of the game. This update does not claim a hands-on benchmark, forecast an exact resolution or prescribe a television setting for an unannounced mode.
The PS5 page remains the place for verified platform features, separate from speculative performance advice. GTA 6 on PS5 →
What a defensible launch comparison will require
We would record the console, game build, output settings, chosen mode and repeatable scene. Frame rate, frame pacing, resolution and image quality would be evaluated separately. A brief quiet scene would not be used to guarantee the same result during dense traffic or a large confrontation.
An official technical table can update the announcement fields before those tests exist. Independent released-build measurements can later add observed behavior with their own limits. The current URL can serve both stages without publishing a competing performance page while the same questions remain unanswered.
Xbox availability and controller context stay with the existing Xbox route; no unsupported hardware variant pages are created. GTA 6 on Xbox Series X|S →

Will GTA VI run at 60 FPS?
A final 60 FPS launch mode has not been announced or ruled out in the official sources checked for this update.
Is 30 FPS officially locked for launch?
No final launch lock is established by the evidence used here. Current-build reporting must retain its qualification.
Was the Extended Look captured on PS5?
Yes. That is Rockstar's stated capture platform. It is not a complete retail settings or performance specification.
Will PS5 Pro have a better mode?
The PlayStation Store lists PS5 Pro Enhanced. Final PS5 Pro frame-rate targets, resolution and mode tradeoffs are still not specified by that label.
Will Series X and Series S have identical settings?
Their final mode, resolution and image-quality rows remain unannounced. Platform-family availability does not establish identical settings.
Is a 40 FPS mode confirmed?
No 40 FPS option is established in the checked official record. That unknown is not a confirmed no.
Can screenshots prove ray tracing or native resolution?
Promotional stills alone do not establish a complete rendering pipeline or final mode configuration.
Has GTA 6 College benchmarked the game?
No. This page tracks official attribution and reported build status, not hands-on retail measurements.
What will change this file?
A new attributable interview, an official specification or a repeatable released-build result can update an individual claim. We record the source, build and context rather than converting a preview into a final rule. Unsupported values remain empty, and future detail routes stay out of the sitemap until they can answer a real question.
